HOUSTON—Barack Obama, holding a Q-and-A session in an American Legion hall here, just criticized a new ad Hillary Clinton will reportedly begin running today.
Obama said that he understood the Clinton ad would ask, “Who do you want answering the phone in the White House at 3 a.m. when something is happening in the world?”
Obama called it an attempt to “play on people’s fears” and asserted that it would “not work this time.”
He continued: “The question is not who will pick up the phone. The question is what kind of judgment you will show when you pick up the phone.”
Referring to the decision as to whether to go to war in Iraq as a “red phone moment,” Obama insisted that Clinton, President Bush and John McCain had all given “the wrong answer.”
