How to make love to a mezzo-soprano: The good people at Dicapo Opera Theatre stage Conrad Susa’s The Dangerous Liaisons, based on the 18th-century novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, which, as we vaguely recall from the 1988 Stephen Frears movie with John Malkovich, Glenn Close and Michelle Pfeiffer and our college CliffsNotes as “a tale of seduction, revenge, and human malice by Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, two decadent aristocratic rivals who use sex as a weapon to humiliate and degrade.” Oh, for the days when a young man knew how to properly degrade a lass, instead of using up all his concupiscence on Guitar Hero.
