Bill Clinton Cites Non-Bitter Pennsylvanian

BLOOMSBURG, Penn.—At a campaign stop here yesterday afternoon, Bill Clinton made it clear that the campaign has no plans of letting Barack Obama off the hook for his remarks suggesting that the lagging economy had caused Pennsylvanians to become “bitter” and “cling” to their religion, guns and distrust of immigrants.

As soon as he took the stage, President Clinton told the modest crowd at a local middle school gym here that someone he had taken photos with backstage had told him, “I just want you to know that the people you are about to see are not bitter–they’re proud.”
