United States Attorney Chris Christie appears to be investigating the ill-fated EnCap project, according to a report in the Bergen Record.
At a recent bankruptcy meeting, EnCap Manager James Dausch testified that “The U.S. Attorney had asked to see some records.”
The EnCap project became a pet cause for some politicians, who called for a federal investigation of the terms the state gave to the company, and a liability for those who initially supported it.
According to the report, the U.S. Attorney appears to be investigating the terms of loans that the state gave with favorable loans to the company between 2000 and 2005. Such an investigation could have political implications.
