Socking It to Obama

Who says John McCain’s web operation isn’t hip?

After the McCain campaign’s “Dr. No” hit on Barack Obama for what they depict as his naysayer approach to energy solutions got a modicum of traction in the press, the campaign has produced a short web video called Dr. No.

The spot includes a series of Obama’s remarks disapproving of various proposals to address the energy crisis, with a soundtrack obviously intended to evoke the James Bond theme. The typography, orange and green backgrounds and psychedelic circles around Obama’s head are perhaps the funkiest visuals ever used in a Republican presidential candidate’s ad. At least since yesterday.

Here’s the script:

Script For “Dr. No” (Web :40)

CHYRON: Barack Obama Is Dr. No.

No To Drilling Offshore Oil.

BARACK OBAMA: Offshore drilling would not lower gas prices today.

CHYRON: No To A Gas Tax Holiday.

BARACK OBAMA: I think John McCain’s proposal for a three month tax holiday is a bad idea.

CHYRON: No To Innovation. No To The Electric Car.

BARACK OBAMA: In this campaign, John McCain is offering the same old gimmicks.

CHYRON: No To Clean, Safe, Nuclear Energy.

BARACK OBAMA: I start off with the premise that nuclear energy is not optimal. I am not a nuclear energy proponent.

CHYRON: Barack Obama Truly Is The Dr. No Of Energy Security.
