The Wall Street Journal yesterday reported on increased buzz about Gov. Corzine being tapped by president-elect Barack Obama to become Secretary of the Treasury.
The article cited Service International Employees Union President Andy Stern’s praise of Corzine, and noted that “other handicappers are following Corzine because he has such a range of experience in both the public and private sectors.”
That blog entry came up during Corzine’s appearance today on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. After giving a longer version of his usual answer, emphasizing that he’d prefer to deal with the economic crisis on a state level, host Joe Scarborough jokingly said “So Governor, you’re saying if asked to be Treasury Secretary you would emphatically say ‘Yes, Mr. President.”
“Joe!” responded Corzine. “Now Hillary Clinton, I think, will make a magnificent Secretary of State, and I think you guys need to get on to the practical.”
