ALBANY—Good thing for Caroline Kennedy that (if?) David Paterson isn’t influenced by the polls.
The latest, by Marist College, found that Kennedy’s favorability rating has dropped from 62 to 46 percent over the holiday break, with the number of people surveyed who have an unfavorable impression of her jumping from 9 to 30 percent.
Kennedy last month rolled herself out as a contender to succeed Hillary Clinton in the U.S. Senate. Forty percent of the 603 registered voters surveyed now say they would prefer Attorney General Andrew Cuomo to get that nod, compared with 25 percent for Kennedy. Polls in December showed the two tied, but Kennedy led in expectations.
Once again: Paterson alone makes the appointment.
