Bloomberg Reminded That Reporters Are Also Constituents

Michael Bloomberg confronted a harsh reality this morning while answering a question about the city's effort to collect taxes that haven't been paid—an amount the Daily News put at $2 billion.

"I don't know," Bloomberg said in response to the News' Adam Lisberg. "Do you want me to raise your taxes so we can have more inspectors to go out—" he was interrupted.

"You are," said Lisberg.

Bloomberg is considering raising the sales tax and expanding it to items like movie tickets and haircuts.

"Let me rephrase it," Bloomberg said, before expressing confidence that the city finance commissioner is capable of collecting the fees.
