While we’re home convalescing with a cold compress after LL Cool J (been a while since we were breathing that hard …), dear ole Dad’s favorite finely aged country crooner, Emmylou Harris, plays at the Beacon Theatre, singing of being screwed over by her lovers and the patina of sadness covering everything. (Cat Power for grandparents!) And just as we’d finally become inured to its constant presence, Fashion Week’s last takeover of Bryant Park winds to a close with a runway show by Ralph Lauren, a nice Jewish boy who shows the WASPs how to dress (and how to stay in business), not to mention a bunch of designers we’ve never heard of.
