After meeting with Michael Bloomberg for more than an hour, the city’s five Republican county chairmen said they had not immediately decided about whether to let the former Republican into their party’s primary as he campaigns for a third term later this year.
They did not say when a decision would be made.
“We’re not making any endorsement at this time,” said Jay Savino, the Republican County chairman from the Bronx, during a press conference with reporters after the meeting at the East 83rd Street headquarters for the Manhattan G.O.P.
Phil Ragusa of Queens said he did not ask the mayor to re-register as a Republican – something he said he would do before the meeting.
