Anthony Shorris, the executive director of the Port Authority under Eliot Spitzer, has taken a position as a professor at New York University’s Wagner school, where he will lead the Rudin Center for Transportation Policy and Management.
Shorris, who confirmed to me that he is taking the job, has served in an array of upper-level city and state positions over the years in policy-focused positions. He was Ed Koch’s finance commissioner, a deputy budget director, and a deputy chancellor in the Department of Education in the Bloomberg administration. He did a teaching stint at Princeton before being picked up by Spitzer for the Port Authority job, and was then forced out by David Paterson when he became governor.
