Bloomberg: ‘I Understand the Anger’ at A.I.G.

Michael Bloomberg sought to squash the idea, promoted actively by Bill Thompson, that he’s out of touch with common New Yorkers and too sympathetic to people like the A.I.G. executives who got million-dollar bonuses.
“I understand the anger,” Bloomberg said as he interrupted a reporter’s question mentioning the angry public response to A.I.G. “But we have to get on with it. You know, vengeance is fine, but we have 6,500 people who work for A.I.G. in New York City. The vast bulk of them make less than $100,000 a year and don’t get a bonus. My concern is for them.”
