Coniglio jury selection starts today

The selection of a jury in the federal corruption trial of former State Sen. Joseph Coniglio (D-Paramus) begins today.  Coniglio dropped his bid for re-election to a third term in the Senate in 2007 after word leaked that he was the target of a federal probe.  He was indicted last year on charges that he helped steer state budget funds to the Hackensack University Medical Center, where he was on payroll as a plumbing consultant.

Coniglio is represented by Gerald Krovatin, one of the state’s top criminal defense attorneys.
