In First Debate, Murphy Presses Tedisco on Stimulus, of Course

SARATOGA SPRINGS—As expected, Democratic congressional candidate Scott Murphy brought up the recently passed federal stimulus package over a dozen times during the course of his first 90-minute debate with Jim Tedisco at the public library here—with varying degrees of directness.
At least once, he directly challenged Tedisco to say how he would have voted. The assembly minority leader did not oblige, and the structure of the debate did not allow for direct exchanges between the candidates.
But after the debate, in front of several television cameras, a seemingly frustrated Tedisco told reporters, “I’ve always been clear on that. I support a stimulus package with the amendments to take out the waste.
