ALBANY—The newspaper endorsements have started coming in the race to succeed Kirsten Gillibrand in Congress.
The above, from the Glens Falls Chronicle, endorses Assembly Minority Leader Jim Tedisco, and casts doubt on Democrat Scott Murphy's roots in the community. Tedisco was also endorsed today by the New York Post; the editorial board cited his "appreciation for fiscal restraint and tax relief."
Murphy was endorsed today by the Oneonta Daily Star, which wrote, "contrary to campaign literature and other advertising by both parties, neither Murphy nor Tedisco is the boogyman."
Three of the four larger papers serving the district – The Schenectady Gazette, Albany Times Union, Glens Falls Post-Star and Poughkeepsie Journal – have yet to endorse a candidate. The Poughkeepsie Journal went for Tedisco after both candidates met with the newspaper's editorial board.
