HOOSICK FALLS—If you ask Scott Murphy about the issues, he’ll answer. But you do have to ask.
The Democratic candidate for Congress had just marched in this quaint St. Patrick’s Day parade, which, as a tall red head with an Irish surname, was an easy way to connect with voters. Afterward, he spoke to me and another reporter about his message for the last two weeks of the campaign.
Here’s a typical answer to the questions we asked about how the campaign is going, and if anything had changed since a poll found Murphy within four points of the Republican candidate, Assembly Minority Leader Jim Tedisco:
“We’ve been focused on getting out the message of my experience creating jobs and building small businesses, about working on President Obama’s Economic Recovery Act,” Murphy said.
