Fred Hochberg, long a big New York bundler and political match-maker, will officially be appointed the Obama administration's Export-Import Bank chairman today, 11 years after he became the Clinton administration's highest-ranking openly gay official when he was appointed deputy of the Small Business Administration.
In the interim years, the oft-quoted Hochberg served as dean of the annoyingly named Milano The New School for Management and Urban Policy and then as a commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
He is one of the few of his ilk, along with Steven Rattner, to have transitioned easily from a prominent role in Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign to Barack Obama's campaign and, later, administration.
News of his appointment was made public back in January.
