VSL:WEB // This website gives crank contrarianism a good name

The Cynical-C blog has compiled a stellar selection of curmudgeonly reader comments and 1-star reviews from Amazon. Seeing them all in one place is proof positive that you can’t please all of the people all of the time.

Complaints are leveled at Moby Dick (“outdated and outmoded”) and Abbey Road (“music for druggies”). The Great Gatsby, Lolita, and The Catcher in the Rye are all judged to be “boring,” and bands like Led Zeppelin and the Who are said to lack a certain “oomph.” One reader found Anne Frank’s diary to be “a total girly-girl book,” and another had a few words for the author of 1984: “please george do us all a faver [sic] and stop writing books.” Done.
