NBC News announced today the promotion of Mark Lukasiewicz, who henceforth will oversee both digital media and specials.

Since 2006, Mr. Lukasiewicz has served as the network's VP of ditigal media. He'll now essentially be taking on the additonal duties that were previously the responsibility of Phil Alongi, the longtime head of the specials unit, who departed from NBC back in February.

Doing two or more jobs at once is all the rage these days in New York media, in general, and at 30 Rock, in particular, where everyone in news has been carefully pinching pennies.

"These added responsibilities for Mark are a testimony to his unparalleled skill in producing special event television," said MSNBC President Phil Griffin in today's press release. "He has been a huge force in pushing our digital agenda across the platforms of NBC News and beyond, and now, in some ways, returns to his roots, adding the specials coverage to his portfolio. I am thrilled to have him in this role."
