ALBANY—There was more than enough to put people on edge here in the statehouse this week—a State Senate leadership battle, concern about restructured drug laws, a clown—but the final push before rioting breaks out may well be the arrive of the Capitol’s annual “40 under 40” list, who’s on it, and who’s not.
It’s starting to tear the Legislative Correspondents Association apart. Below is a video showing Jeremy Peters talking about fellow Times-man Nick Confessore’s inclusion in the list, and here’s another showing the Times Union‘s Irene Jay Liu shying away from Peters as he attempted to drum up publicity.
Peters, 29, insisted he was not bitter about Confessore’s inclusion, but rather was “acting as his agent.” Bureau Chief Danny Hakim, I’m told by sources close to the Times bureau here, is also under 40.
Legislators on the list include State Senator Craig Johnson and Assembly members Jack Quinn, Addie Russell, Marc Molinaro, Micah Kellner, Grace Meng, Marc Alessi, Hakeem Jeffries, Greg Ball and Karim Camara.
