2.Turns out no one can resist a good love story: VSL readers chose Valentino: The Last Emperor as their favorite DVD pick this month. Directed by Matt Tyrnauer, this documentary follows the designer from 2005 to 2007, with peeks at celebrity friends, pugs, and private planes and yachts. 3. You think your childhood was strange? Check out Kaylie Jones’ Lies My Mother Never Told, VSL readers’ favorite book pick for August. The daughter of famed From Here to Eternity-writer James Jones, Kaylie grew up in 1960s Paris surrounded by glittering literati.
