Klein Endorses Yassky, Who Doesn’t Want to Talk About Liu

State Senator Jeff Klein, who represents parts of the Bronx and Westchester, endorsed David Yassky for city comptroller, bucking the county organization in the Bronx that is going with rival Melinda Katz.

At a press conference this morning by City Hall, Yassky said, “I’m talking to every single voter and every elected official about their support.”

“I’ve worked with the other candidates,” said Klein, “but I’m here today to say that I believe David Yassky would make the best comptroller.”

Later, Frank Lombardi of the Daily News asked Yassky for his reaction to a report that John Liu was “making up” the campaign narrative about having worked in a sweatshop.

“All I know about those allegations are what I read in the newspaper,” Yassky said. “I’m here today to talk about what New Yorkers need from the comptroller’s office over the next four years.”
