“I’m proud to endorse the leadership and the actions Mayor Bloomberg has been taking for quite a long time on this issue and this is just another example of that,” former Vice President Al Gore told a crowd in Long Island City this afternoon, where the two men had apparently gathered to paint a small white swath on a concrete rooftop.
White rooftops are one of the energy saving environmental initiatives in the Mayor’s PlaNYC.
In a video of the event, Mayor Bloomberg, looking comfortable in a loud orange shirt tucked into his khakis, stood by as Mr. Gore did everything but endorse his campaign for re-election.
“I am a recovering politician,” Gore said. “I’m on about step nine, so I try to stay out of the partisan races, but I’m very proud of Mike Bloomberg’s leadership, I really am. I’m not just saying it.”
Mr. Gore has not, so far, appeared with Bill Thompson.
