Arianna Huffington is up with her first book club pick today, one day after the Huffington Post launched its new partnership with the New York Review of Books.

At HuffPost, we passionately embrace the rapid-fire, always-fresh, up-to-the-second, 24/7 nature of online news. But here at HuffPost Books, the pace will be different. A little bit slower, a little more willing to look back as well as ahead. A little more willing to kick back and curl up with a good book.

So Ms. Huffington picked "In Praise of Slowness: How a Worldwide Movement is Embracing the Cult of Speed" by Carl Honore, a book she says she discovered after fainting from overwork.

HuffPost Books was quick with the Web tie-ins. In addition to Ms. Huffington's long post explaining the pick, Mr. Honore's HuffPo blog has his own lengthy post explaining how honored and excited he is to be the first selection. And then there's a whole page of short pieces from other HuffPo writers about how they slow down. And then there's a separate page of inspirational quotes about slowness that mixes quotes from Honore with quotes from the likes of Aristotle, Thoreau and Simon and Garfunkel.
