More on the Bloomberg-Obama-Thompson Triangle

Michael Barbaro looks at Michael Bloomberg’s lobbying of Barack Obama, and tries answering the question Bill Thompson’s supporters have been asking for some time: does the president ever intend to get involved in the mayor’s race on behalf of his party’s candidate?

The piece featured some slightly silly quotes.

“For every one thing we do with them, we turned down five of them,” said one White House adviser, about Bloomberg’s team, in a formulation that will be of no comfort to Team Thompson.

Also, Thompson dropped a hint so vague as to border on meaninglessness: “There will be opportunities to do things with the White House.”
