Teamsters for Bloomberg, Barely

Kate McGee catches an interesting factoid in today’s announcement that Local 237 Teamsters was endorsing Michael Bloomberg.

Union president Greg Floyd said the vote to support Bloomberg over Bill Thompson was close. When asked, repeatedly, how close the vote was, Floyd would not elaborate.

“Thompson is not a bad candidate,” said Floyd at an endorsement event with Bloomberg at the union’s 14th Street headquarters. “He’s just running against Mike Bloomberg.”

Four years ago, before Floyd took over, the union endorsed the Democratic nominee for mayor.

After shaking hands with union members this morning, Bloomberg left without taking questions.
