For Gun Control, Gillibrand and McCarthy Come Together

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, a nationally recognized gun control activist who once considered running for Senate against Kirsten Gillibarnd, will join the incumbent at an event tomorrow calling for stricter gun control laws, according to Gillibrand’s office.

Gillibrand had come under criticism over her conservative positions on gun control while in the House, but she has subsequently shifted McCarthy-ward. Gillibrand and McCarthy will also be joined by Michael Bloomberg and police commissioner Ray Kelly at John Jay College.

The appearance with McCarthy comes one day after Gillibrand got the endorsement of Rep. Jerry Nadler, who also used to be not particularly crazy about Senator Gillibrand.
