ALBANY—It’s official — they’re gone.
The Assembly just recessed until Monday at 2 p.m. State Senators did not bother to gavel into session today; at least half a dozen of the members of the Democratic majority left last night. The Senate is expected to return to session Monday afternoon.
Republicans in both chambers have called press conferences to decry this. Senate Republican Leader Dean Skelos unveiled a plan that he says is “in a sense, you have a three way agreement between Senate Dems, Senate Republicans and the governor on $2.5 billion” of deficit reduction.
“But the Democrats have gone home,” Skelos said.
A meeting of all five legislative leaders will occur at 4:15.
