Time named Ben Bernanke—"overlord of the economy" and the "most powerful nerd on the planet"—its Person of the Year this morning, but apparently that doesn't guarantee him any votes toward another term.

John McCain said this afternoon that he'll probably vote against Mr. Bernanke's confirmation, joining a slew of Republican critics, Oregon Democrat Jeff Merkley, and the Independent, Bernie Sanders.

Meanwhile, Mr. Bernanke is celebrating the award by keeping interest rates at nearly zero.
