Morning Read: Bloomberg and Gillibrand Talk, Monserrate Parties

The Senate health care bill passed.

Michael Bloomberg and Kirsten Gillibrand exchanged words about the bill, according to an unnamed source. “He wasn’t happy, and she didn’t have much to say other than to claim it wasn’t as bad as he was saying.”

Gillibrand called it “a great day for New York families.”

State officials are moving ahead with Atlantic Yards.

Christine Quinn makes this highlight of lesbian politicians because she “recovered from a bruising year in which she was relentlessly lambasted for supporting a change in the city’s term limits.”

And same-sex marriage activists crash Hiram Monserrate’s holiday party, saying things like he “believes marriage should be between one man, one woman and a broken bottle.”

Monserrate’s chief of staff, who is openly gay, can be heard saying, “The senator’s position is not my position.”
