Paying for content is the way of the future, according to Rupert Murdoch, and it doesn’t matter if that content is online instead of on paper.
“We’re in the news business, not the dead tree business,” he said today in a speech at an FTC workshop.
Murdoch would like you to pay for his papers’ stories, but he would like you to pay for everyone else’s stories, too. He “urges rivals to charge,” per the Telegraph.
And things may be going his way: Google’s going to start letting paywall sites limit readers to five links per day.
