89064722 Robert Morgenthau Is Still Working, But Hes Not Working BlueIn this holiday interregnum–when we read news stories about tourism and duck-coddling–Robert Morgenthau is grinding out his last days as district attorney in front of a starving press corps.

The Times–following up on its exit profile from two days ago–runs a story about his press conference yesterday, in which Mr. Morgenthau correctly pronounced two difficult names, and also made a few jokes. And he’ll be here all week. “I’m going to have another one tomorrow,” he said.

Unfortunately, Mr. Morgenthau’s twilight isn’t as entertaining as it looked like it might be a few weeks ago, when the outgoing district attorney accused Mayor Bloomberg of making “chickenshit” comments.

“I’ve been forbidden to use barnyard epithets by my wife,” he told City Hall News.
