Facebook will offer five fellowships to doctoral students, reports The Chronicle of Higher Education.
In exchange for tuition, travel funds, and $30,000, the lucky learners “will be asked to work with Facebook developers to solve current challenges in Internet technology and social media.” According to Facebook’s announcement, applicants must be enrolled in programs related to “Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, [or] System Architecture.”
I am not sure I would ask any of the grad students I know to solve real-world problems. Then again, I guess “German literature” is not a system-architecture-related field.
