Since introducing its Bay Area section last fall, The Times has gained 1,100 subscribers in the region, on top of the 40,080 daily subscribers they previously had there.
So does this make the experiment a success?
Newspaper analyst John Morton told The Transom the growth was “encouraging”–especially given that it happened “that quickly.”
Credit, however, does not belong entirely to The Times. Thanks also go out to “the diminishment of journalism in the Bay Area.”
