Observer Hires New Managing Editor for the Web

Tyler Thoreson has been hired as the new managing editor for Observer digital. He will oversee Observer.com and VSL, as well as any future web or mobile properties.

"We're thrilled to have Tyler aboard," said Kyle Pope, The Observer's editor. "We have ambitious plans for The Observer online and we believe he's the perfect person to make them happen."

Most recently, Thoreson served as the executive editor of men.style.com, Conde Nast's online home for GQ and Details. He was previously a freelance editor for IMG, handling projects for AOL, Knight Ridder Digital, and others.

His first brush with The Observer was back in 1996, when he worked as a fact checker.

Thoreson will start February 15th.
