Olivia Palermo the Journalist Likes to Hit Balls

From the previews for the next season of The City, we learn that socialite Olivia Palermo will become a video reporter for Elle.com and that Whitney Port promptly learns a lesson about New York’s fashion media: Just because you’re friends, it doesn’t mean you’re getting free press for your fashion line. (Though quite often, it does.)

Meanwhile, leading up to the April premiere of the show, Ms. Palermo is hawking her own line of necklaces for Roberta Freymann. The pieces are a little gawdy for us, but in doing press for the line, the socialite tells Refinery 29 some of her favorite places to hang out in New York. And–surprise, surprise–one of them is the SPiN ping pong social club we wrote about this week that is planning a reality show of its own with some assistance from investor (and friend) Susan Sarandon. “Ping-pong is one of my new favorite pastimes,” Ms. Palermo tells Refinery 29. “I love coming here to hang out and hit balls with my friends.” Hmmm…
