Race Is Not a Factor

Observer editor Kyle Pope asked David Paterson if he has been able to put his finger on the rumors swirling around his administration.
“Going back over the last several months, there have been some hideous and unsubstantiated rumors,” Mr. Paterson said.
“None of those speculations came to fruition. So this is a separate issue that really involved the problems of someone who worked for us and not me.”
Mr. Pope asked, “Do you still think race is a factor?”
“No. I don’t think that,” Paterson said. “And I never said that.”
