This Morning: Paterson Stories Ratchet Up Pressure, Ford Bows Out

After a relatively quiet weekend, following his decision to terminate his re-election campaign last week, things got worse–again–for Governor Paterson yesterday, when The Times posted a more detailed, more damning story about his intervention in a domestic violence dispute. Apparently the governor asked two other women to call the accused woman. Yesterday the governor said he wasn’t sure why people were talking about him resigning; presumably he knows now.

Harold Ford Jr. stepped down in his Senate race last night, taking the high road that it would hurt the party in a Times op-ed.

The vice chairman of the Fed is retiring, so someone has to step up to fill that seat–and two other lingering vacancies at the Federal Reserve. Bloomberg News says Tim Geithner is leading the search, so Chairman Bernanke shouldn’t get too much pressure from inside his own office.

And, unless someone steps in to resolve this new cable fracas, Cablevision subscribers might lose ABC, at least for awhile.
