Working for Vanity Fair: ‘Horrible, Horrible’

Vanity Fair is basically hell on earth, says “celebrity choreographer” John Byrne. He told the blog Tabloid Prodigy about working on (choreographing?) the magazine’s most recent cover photo. Apparently:

“It was a horrible, horrible experience and the set was an absolutely horrid and repressed place,” he tells TabloidProdigy.com. “I consider myself a professional and have had a great time working with some of the worlds greatest and most demanding choreographers, directors and photographers-but working with Annie Leibovitz’s crew was the most demeaning experience I’ve had.”

Byrne describes the shoot’s environment as hostile and tense, and says that while Annie Leibovitz is a “pleasant” person, her Vanity Fair team and work practices left little to be desired.

We assume they mean “a lot to be desired”? Not to undermine their credibility, but.

At any rate, so much suffering, and for such an underwhelming cover: not only Kristen Stewart but also normally non-sullen Carey Mulligan look miserable.

Jezebel, summing up the dramz, calls the March 2010 magazine  “one of the most-maligned issues ever.”
