In Deed! Prince of Calypso, David Belafonte, Sells on the UWS

Our daily roundup of the most notable high-end residential transactions from the past 24 hours.

— Harry Belafonte‘s son, David, and his Danish model bride, Malena, sold their apartment at 425 West End Avenue for $1.275 million to internist Dr. Jonathan Sadeh. The “King of Calypso”‘s son is a Grammy-nominated producer and former model. The apartment, listed with Corcoran’s Christopher J. Infante, has “grand entertaining spaces,” a wood-burning fireplace and tall, “sunlight streaming” windows. It is a three-bedroom (though one bedroom is currently used as a dining room), but the listing suggests it can be combined with the neighboring unit to make a nine-room super-combo.

Alan L. Stein, a former partner at Goldman Sachs, bought a $2 million apartment at the Chatham at 181 East 65th Street from Shahrzad Khayami, founder and manager of AnK Capital, an investment advisory firm. The high-floor apartment in the “rarely available” luxury condominium was listed by Sotheby’s Oliver Brown.

Stuart Rekant, CEO of the Juniper Content Corporation, and his wife, Stribling agent Patricia M. Weeks, sold their 880 Fifth Avenue apartment to orthopedic surgeon Dr. Robert Haar for $3.55 million. The “elegant and sophisticated” six-room apartment (it was converted from an original seven rooms) has “glorious” views of Central Park, and was listed by fellow Stribling agent Shel Joblin.
