Lombardi–a play depicting the life of Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi–will be coming to Broadway this fall, reports The Times. The play “will dramatize the public and private life of Lombardi,” to be portrayed by the dad from The Wonder Years.
The NFL’s vice president of entertainment marketing and promotions said in a statement:
Football and Broadway are both iconic American forms of entertainment, and the N.F.L. is proud to bring these two unique and passionate audiences together under one roof. Lombardi’s charisma and coaching style were legendary–and intensely theatrical.
At last! A way of capturing the elusive the theater-going/football-loving audience.
