The New York Building Congress, which represents the entire construction and development industry (unions, contractors, architects, etc.) is dying for a resolution on the budget. With some construction contractors not getting paid without a state budget (now two months overdue), the organization today sent out this plea to its members, asking them to get involved, and withhold what elected officials desire from them: campaign contributions.
“Enough is enough!” The letter reads, going on to suggest a few courses of action, including:
Withhold all legislative political contributions until a budget is enacted. Either deny requests for contributions and use the budget impasse as your reasoning, or contact those you have supported in the past and let them know that future contributions are contingent upon a promptly approved budget.
