Gun Microstamping Proponents Target Senate GOP in Ads

New York Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the group backed by Mayor Bloomberg, today released TV and radio ads that target a set of Senate Republicans in an attempt to pass legislation that would require handguns to imprint fired shell casings with a fingerprint, of sorts.

According to Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the TV ads target Republican State Senators Charles Fuschillo, Marty Golden, Kemp Hannon, Andrew Lanza and Dean Skelos, the minority leader. The radio ads target those from both parties: Republican Senators John Bonacic, Fuschillo, Hannon, and Skelos, and Democratic Senators Bill Stachowski and Dave Valesky.

The ads come as Mayor Bloomberg and a large delegation of mayors go up to the Capitol today to lobby for the bill. It’s passed the Assembly and has 25 sponsors in the Senate.
