The Onion recently removed all of its newspaper boxes from the Upper West Side, as part of a plan to increase the satire weekly’s circulation in Brooklyn and Greenwich Village.
People searching for the print edition north of Penn Station have called the Onion‘s distributing manager to defend themselves:
Since the move about two months ago, I’ve gotten a lot of people calling in to say, ‘I live on the Upper West Side, and I still have a sense of humor,’ so it’s nice to know that we have fans.
Perhaps the move was meant to prevent future pilfering from The Upper West Side Times Thief.
