Nick Knight shot Lady Gaga for the September “Style Issue” cover of Vanity Fair. “We chose Lady Gaga for the VF’s style issue because she’s a cultural, artistic and fashion icon,” Vanity Fair spokeswoman Beth Kseniak wrote in an email. “She’s a phenomenon.” There is a story by Lisa Robinson about the pop star inside.
Gaga covers have posted good newsstand numbers in the past. According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations Rapid Report, the April issue of Cosmopolitan with Gaga on the cover was the magazine’s top seller so far this year. The Gaga cover sold 1,766,000 single sale copies. (ABC only has Cosmo data through April 2010.) A recent issue of Rolling Stone with Gaga on the cover will likely perform well, too. That issue featured Michael Hastings’ profile of General Stanley McChrystal.
