A thief has been routinely stealing all of the copies of The New York Times from the Starbucks on 73rd Street and Columbus Avenue. Now you have to get The Times from the barista because it’s not safe on the rack! The Wall Street Journal, on other hand, never gets stolen. Westside Independent has the story.
The Journal, placed just below the Times on the rack, never got touched, despite its new Greater New York section meant to appeal to the kinds of Manhattanites who frequent Starbucks.
There you have it, Upper West Side petty criminals hate Greater New York! Or—outsider theory—petty criminals are just scared of messing with The Journal.
