Along with forty of the country’s richest people, Mayor Mike Bloomberg has pledged to give away half of his wealth to charitable causes.
The Giving Pledge, as it is known as, is an initiative spearheaded by Warren Buffet and Bill and Melinda Gates.
In a statement provided by the Gates Foundation, the Mayor said, “If you want to do something for your children and show how much you love them, the single best thing – by far – is to support organizations that will create a better world for them and their children. And by giving, we inspire others to give of themselves, whether their money or their time.”
He will say more about a noontime conference call with Buffett.
