photo 02 In Deed! Will Balliett Buys Near Riverside; $5.25 M. Deal at 941 Park Will Balliett, president at Thames & Hudson and author and editor of several books, among them a Mets fan’s almanac and an anthology of matrimonial advice from Flaubert and other romantic souls (as if Madame Bovary weren’t clear enough), has purchased an apartment at 600 West 111th Street, close to Riverside Park. Mr. Balliett, whose father, Whitney, covered jazz for The New Yorker for some 40 years, paid $1,254,993.13 for the generous, high-ceilinged space.

John Gans and wife Irina (nee Tolstoy) have sold their home at 941 Park Avenue, one of the Upper East Side’s most expensive buildings and the former stomping ground of Lloyd Blankfein, to Brian Fisher, about whom Google sheds no light. Mr. Fisher paid $5.25 million for the apartment, which comes with herringbone floors and two maid’s rooms.

US Democrats, licking their wounds from last year's election debacle, will pick a new leader on February 25, 2017 to take the fight to President Donald Trump and his Republicans. The race to chair the Democratic National Committee (DNC) features front-runners Tom Perez, a Hispanic-American and former secretary of labor under Barack Obama who is the establishment pick, and Keith Ellison, a black Muslim congressman from the party's progressive wing who has left open the prospect of pushing to impeach Trump. / AFP / Mandel NGAN AND Brendan SMIALOWSKI (Photo credit should read MANDEL NGAN,BRENDAN SMIALOWSKI/AFP/Getty Images)
