Comcast COO Steve Burke will take over NBCU from outgoing CEO Jeff Zucker as soon as the deal between the two companies is approved. Nikki Finke described Mr. Burke, the son of former ABC president Dan Burke, as “true showbiz royalty by blood” writing yesterday following General Electric and Comcast’s announcment (which, Ms. Finke bragged, she has been forecasting for nearly a year). Mr. Burke is also a director at both JP Morgan Chase and Berkshire Hathaway. In addition to the executive news, The New York Times has an item today about the amount of money that Comcast has thrown into getting the deal past regulators amidst protests from other large media companies like Bloomberg and Albritton.
