Haledon resident and Paterson police detective Michael Johnson has been appointed to fill the vacant seat on the Haledon Borough Council.
Johnson was appointed by Mayor Domenick Stampone to fill the seat of Councilman Daniel Batelli, who resigned citing health issues and work responsibilities.
“I am honored and humbled by Mayor Stampone and the Haledon Democratic County Committee for appointing me to serve my neighbors, friends, and family on the Borough Council,” Johnson said in a release. “However, this does not change my resolve and work ethic through Election Day – I will continue knocking on doors, talking to voters, and making my case to our community why I deserve to be elected on November 3rd.”
Johnson will serve out the remaining four months of this term and is running to fill a one year unexpired term in November’s general election.
